Many people
are unclear about what copyright means or even that it
exists. This page explains what copyright is, how it
affects you, and what it means within the context of
this website.
If you already understand the basics of copyright then
poceed to the Fair
Use section. |
 |
 |
| UK law provides
automatic copyright to the author of a creative work.
This means that you cannot copy, use, transmit, publish,
or otherwise reproduce in any shape or form; another
person's creation without explicit permission. If people
were allowed to do so, then there would be little incentive
for creatives to continue to produce photography/art
as they could not make a living from it. |
 |
 |
| This means
that legally you cannot copy any of the images from this
website or any other on the internet without permission.
There are many reasons for this. Besides the fact that
creatives want paid for their work, it is also important
that they have control over the context within which
their work is used. Thus you have a moral as well as
a legal obligation to respect copyright and those who
created a piece of work. |
 |
 |
I want you
to enjoy my work and I sympathise that you may wish to
use my images; however you have to appreciate that my
images are my living and so I cannot allow free use of
them.
One of the most frequent uses of copied images from the
internet is for computer desktop backgrounds. Therefore
I am including a series of desktop backgrounds/wallpapers
within the downloads section
which you are free to use for your desktop background.
Enjoy! |
