ANDREW GEDDES

Having graduated with a 1st in Visual Communication, I returned to the University of Ulster to undertake a Masters in Future Communication. It was my hope that through the course I could develop my photographic and design skills within a professional context.

During the first year of my Masters I worked part-time for Khara Pringle, a well known local photographer; while also doing some supervisory work for the university. Although now working predominantly within the design field, my love of photography informs and enriches my design work, while very much staying close to my heart.



ELECTRONIC FORMAT

Although my choice of dissertation topic may seem strange to some, I feel that it's a very important area, growing in relevance as society continues to develop an increasingly visual architecture. What began as a research area in module three, developed into a fascination that formed the basis for my dissertation and major project.

Presenting the dissertation in an electronic format makes searching and navigation much more flexible, while offering cost effective distribution and a more environmentally friendly outcome than the mandatory paper format which accompanies this submission.

Having undertaken a CSS web design course I felt that this would be a great opportunity to put my newfound skills to the test. This is my first CSS website and it has been a learning experience incorporating web standards, accessibility and many other issues which I had barely touched on when working with DreamWeaver. I would like to thank Chris Murphy and Nicklas Persson both for their support and for organising the course.
